Sexual harassment can occur in a variety of circumstances. It can take place at work or a work-related activity or function. It can occur between members of the opposite sex or the same sex. The harasser can be the victim's supervisor, a supervisor in another department, a coworker, an employee, or a non-employee such as an agent, customer, or client. The victim does not have to be the actual person harassed but could be anyone affected by the offensive conduct. We will discuss the two basic types of sexual harassment; one, quid pro quo sexual harassment; two, hostile work environment. The lines between these two types of harassment are not always clear and they can occur together.
